Salem Paige

Salem Paige (they/them) is a transgender poet whose works revolve around the exploration of identity, technology, space, nature, and discomfort. Salem holds an Honours Bachelor of Arts with a Major in Communications and a microprogram in Professional Editing from the University of Ottawa.

Paige was published in 2023 as a Canadian League of Poets’ Fresh Voice, and was previously shortlisted for the Bridport Poetry Prize and longlisted for the ROOM Poetry Prize. Their work can be found in their first collection of poetry, The Third Self (2023, Sunday Mornings at the River Press) and their chapbook to grow roots (2023, bottlecap press), as well as londemere lit magazine, corporeal magazine, Beyond Words magazine, STREETCAKE magazine, flo. literary magazine, Ariel Chart Literary Journal, BiPan magazine, MEDIUM magazine, SAPPHIC magazine, Rebelle magazine, and Wandering Autumn magazine, Antifragile magazine, Full House Literary, ByWords magazine, unstamatic magazine, and a number of anthologies including the FACES 2022 Best New Book of the Year, Love and Catastrophē Poetry.

Paige lives and works on Algonquin Anishinaabe territory (so-called Ottawa, Ontario), where they spend time napping excessively, binging reality tv, reading solarpunk fiction, going on walks to free little libraries, and annoying their partner and their two cats.
