Biography

dg nanouk okpik is an Inupiaq-Inuit poet who was raised in Anchorage, Alaska. Her first book of poetry, Corpse Whale, won the American Book Award in 2013. As poet Arthur Sze wrote in the book's foreword, "in okpik's poetry, we often discover we are experiencing the world through constrasting mythic elements... and our experience of time moves from linear to synchronous." She has taught at the Institute for American Indian Arts and has served as a resident advisor for the Santa Fe (New Mexico) Indian School.
